SupaClip vs Paste

Pick Paste if you want your clipboard on your iPhone and iPad as well as your Mac, synced through iCloud, or pinboards you share with a team, and a subscription suits you. Pick SupaClip if you only need clipboard history on your Mac, want it to stay on that Mac, and would rather pay $4.99 once.

Paying once vs paying every year

SupaClip costs $4.99 one time. That covers three Macs and every 1.x update, through Stripe, with a 14-day refund if it isn't for you. Paste is a subscription at $3.99 a month or $29.99 a year, with a $99.99 lifetime plan on the App Store and a Family plan for up to six people. Paste is also part of Setapp, so if you already pay for Setapp, it costs you nothing extra.

Your Mac only, or every Apple device

This is where Paste is clearly ahead. It runs on Mac, iPhone and iPad, and your history follows you between them over iCloud. Copy on your phone, paste on your Mac. SupaClip is a Mac app with no sync: what you copy on a Mac stays in that Mac's history. If you move text between your phone and your computer all day, Paste is the better fit.

Privacy

Both apps keep your clipboard off their own servers. Paste stores it on your devices and in your private iCloud so it can sync. SupaClip keeps it in a database on your Mac and makes no network requests while you use it. It only connects to check for updates and, if you choose, to confirm your license key. Items that password managers mark as concealed are never saved, and 1Password, Bitwarden and Keychain Access are excluded by default. Paste lets you set rules to ignore passwords and sensitive apps.

Day to day

SupaClip is built around one shortcut. Press ⌘⇧V, type a few letters, press return, and the item is pasted into the app you came from. ⌥↩ pastes as plain text, ⌘1 to ⌘9 paste the first nine items, and a preview pane shows code, images, colors, links and files before you paste. Paste does more beyond that: pinboards you can share with a team, an Intelligent Clipboard that suggests what to paste next, and a way to give AI tools access to your clipboard history.

Questions and answers

Is SupaClip a subscription?

No. SupaClip is $4.99 once for three Macs, with every 1.x update included. There is no account and nothing to renew.

Does SupaClip sync to my iPhone like Paste?

No. SupaClip runs only on the Mac and nothing you copy leaves it. If you need your clipboard on iPhone and iPad too, Paste is built for that.

Can I try both before deciding?

Yes. Both have a 7-day free trial. After SupaClip's trial the app keeps working with your 25 most recent items until you enter a license key.
